Seville Coach Hire for Group Trips

Seville's old town is made for walking, and the coach plan follows from that. The coach brings the group to the edge of the centre, waits elsewhere, and returns at an agreed time. What matters is where that edge is, and which week you travel.

One low-emission zone, on La Cartuja

Seville's ZBE covers only the Isla de la Cartuja, the former Expo site that includes the Estadio de La Cartuja. Cameras check plates there, and a vehicle with no DGT label is refused between 07:00 and 19:00 on working days. For a cup final or a concert at La Cartuja, check the coach's label before anything else.

The Casco Antiguo has no label rule, but several of its streets are closed to general traffic. That is the position in October 2026; the operator checks it again shortly before the trip.

Setting down near the Cathedral

There is no official, current list of coach set-down points for the centre. The city ordinance lets the council set regulated areas for tourist buses, so the operator fixes each stop, whether for the Cathedral, the Plaza de España or a hotel. Santa Cruz is pedestrian, so put the walk from the stop into the timings.

Coach access and parking rules in Seville

  • Seville Airport (SVQ) is about 11 km by road from the Cathedral, about 25 min in light traffic. Jerez Airport (XRY) is about 92 km (about 1 h 35 min). Journeys take longer at peak times.
  • Sevilla's low-emission zone (ZBE) covers the Isla de la Cartuja: it came into force on 8 January 2024 and has been enforced since 1 July 2024. Vehicles without a DGT label may not enter it on working days from 07:00 to 19:00; plates are read by cameras. In October 2026 the old town (Casco Antiguo) has no low-emission rule by label, but several of its streets are closed to general traffic. These rules are current in October 2026; check them before travel.
  • Spanish low-emission zones use the DGT environmental label (distintivo ambiental): 0 EMISIONES, ECO, C and B; vehicles without a label are classed "A". For vehicles with more than 8 passenger seats and heavy vehicles, label C generally goes to vehicles registered from 2014 and label B to those registered from 2006. Vehicles registered abroad have no DGT label, and each city treats them in its own way (see the notes for each city).
  • No official, current list of city-centre coach set-down points for tourist coaches was found for this file. The city ordinance allows the council to set regulated parking areas for tourist buses; the operator confirms the stopping point near the Cathedral, Plaza de España or the hotel.
  • Sevilla Santa Justa is the main station, with high-speed trains to Córdoba and Madrid. The long-distance bus stations are Plaza de Armas (beside the river, access from the Torneo and Paseo de Colón) and Prado de San Sebastián.
  • During Semana Santa and the Feria de Abril large parts of the centre and of Los Remedios are closed to traffic; see the event facts.
  • Speed limits for buses and coaches (Reglamento General de Circulación, art. 48.1.a): 100 km/h on motorways (autopistas and autovías) and 90 km/h on conventional roads. Vehicles doing school transport or carrying minors drive 10 km/h below those limits (art. 48.1.b), and a bus carrying standing passengers or without seat belts may not exceed 80 km/h on any road outside built-up areas.
  • Seat belts must be worn wherever they are fitted, including in coaches (Reglamento General de Circulación, art. 117.1). In vehicles with more than nine seats including the driver, passengers must be told that belts are compulsory, by the driver, the guide or the group leader, by audiovisual means or by signs at each seat (art. 117.2).
  • EU drivers' hours rules (Regulation (EC) No 561/2006) apply to coach drivers: at most 9 hours of driving a day (10 hours twice a week), a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours of driving and at least 11 hours of daily rest. Long day trips are planned around these limits.
  • Some Spanish motorways are toll roads (autopistas de peaje, usually numbered AP-); the operator plans the route.

Alcázar, Cathedral and Plaza de España

The Real Alcázar and the Cathedral with the Giralda stand side by side and share one World Heritage listing. Book group entry at both in advance and leave a gap between the two slots. The Plaza de España and the Parque de María Luisa lie south of the old town, a short coach hop or a pleasant walk. Itálica, the Roman site at Santiponce, is about 20 minutes out, and Carmona about 40.

Holy Week, the Feria and longer days

Holy Week and the Feria de Abril shut much of the centre, and Los Remedios too, to traffic. No coach plans for those weeks are published, so allow for more walking and confirm pick-up points late. Jerez de la Frontera is about 1 h 25 min and Cordoba about 2 h 10 min. Granada is about 3 h 45 min each way, too far for a comfortable return day.

What organisers ask us

How far is Seville airport from the centre?

About 11 km from the Cathedral, roughly 25 minutes in light traffic. The airport's tourist-coach park is about 200 m from the terminal, so allow a short walk with luggage.

Is Jerez airport an alternative?

For some flights, yes. It is about 92 km from the Cathedral, roughly 1 h 35 min by coach.

Which station do high-speed trains use?

Santa Justa, with trains to Cordoba and Madrid. Long-distance buses use Plaza de Armas and Prado de San Sebastián.
