Palma de Mallorca airport coach transfers: forecourt, holding area, island roads
Palma is one of the few Spanish airports where Aena spells out how coaches work. The coach waits in a holding area away from the terminal, then moves to the Arrivals forecourt when the group is ready.
Holding area first, forecourt second
Coaches, cars with driver and taxis wait in a free holding area next to the long-stay car park, with no time limit. It has a canteen, toilets and flight screens, so a driver can sit out a delay there. When the group has its bags, the coach moves to the outside Arrivals area in front of the terminal, which Aena has arranged by type of ground transport.
The forecourt stop has a limited free time for loading; a longer stay is charged for the whole time. So the coach should not pull in until the group is actually through. Agree with the operator who gives the signal: your group leader, or the driver tracking the flight.

Island coaches only
Mallorca is an island, so the coach and driver for transfers and tours are based there. There is no railway at the airport, and island buses serve the resorts on their own timetables. For a group heading to Alcúdia, Pollença or the Platja de Palma, one coach with a planned drop order is the practical choice.
Where the group boards the coach
- Discretionary coaches stop in front of the terminal, in the outside Arrivals area, which Aena has reorganised by type of ground transport. The first 60 minutes there are free for picking up passengers; a longer stay is charged for the whole time. Agree the meeting point with the operator when booking.
Where coaches park and wait
- For waiting, coaches, cars with driver (VTC) and taxis use a free holding area next to the long-stay car park, with no time limit, until they move to the terminal to collect passengers; it has a canteen, toilets and flight-information screens. Cars with driver without an Aena lease park in car park G, next to the general car park, where charges apply. The arrivals express car park is free for the first 15 minutes.
Road time into the city
- about 10 km by road to the cathedral, in the centre of Palma, about 20 min by coach in light traffic; longer at peak times
Into Palma: the ZBE and set-down
The cathedral is about 10 km away, roughly 20 minutes. Palma's low-emission zone covers the centre inside the Avingudes and the seafront Avinguda de Gabriel Roca. Until the end of 2026 vehicles with any DGT label may enter; from 2027 label B is excluded. The city lists buses among the vehicles allowed in, but whether that covers private-hire coaches is not confirmed, and central Palma has no published list of coach stops. The operator confirms both for the hotel on your booking.
Ships and mountain roads
From the terminal to the cruise berths on the Dique del Oeste is about 14 km, some 25 minutes. The Muelle de Poniente is a different place, so check the berth named for the ship. Inland, the road to Sa Calobra is a run of hairpin bends; ask the operator which vehicle size suits it.
What organisers ask us
Will the coach be at the door when we come out?
Usually it waits in the holding area and moves to the Arrivals forecourt once the group is ready, because longer stops there are charged.
Can we bring a coach from the mainland?
Coaches for island work are based on Mallorca, and the operator supplies one there.
Does the 2027 ZBE change affect us?
From 2027 vehicles with label B may not enter central Palma. The operator checks the label of the coach assigned.
