Barcelona-El Prat coach transfers: zones at T1, bays at T2
El Prat has two terminals that are separate buildings, and Aena lists different coach places at each. Barcelona then adds its own paperwork for any vehicle of nine seats or more. Both are fixed before the group flies.
T1 or T2: name the terminal on the booking
At Terminal T1, group coaches use level 0 (Arrivals), in the North Zone or the South Zone, and minibuses have their own area on the same level. At Terminal T2, the coach bays are numbered: 1 to 10 and 41 to 51 at T2A, 21 to 33 at T2C. Hotel shuttles use other places, so do not follow their signs.
A free shuttle bus links the two terminals at all hours, but the trip takes time. If flights arrive at both, pick one terminal for the coach and move the smaller half across.

Waiting for a late flight
Aena publishes no coach waiting area at El Prat. The express car parks are for cars and have a 3.5 m height limit, so a coach cannot wait there. When a flight is late, the operator decides where the coach holds and when it moves to the zone or bay. Give the operator the flight number, not only the time, so the driver can follow it.
Where the group boards the coach
- Aena lists the places for discretionary (group) coaches: at Terminal T1, on level 0 (Arrivals), in the North Zone (Zona Norte) and the South Zone (Zona Sur), with a separate area on the same level for discretionary minibuses; at Terminal T2, bays 1-10 and 41-51 at T2A and bays 21-33 at T2C. Hotel shuttle buses use other places (T1 level 0, car park G; T2B/C technical block). Agree the terminal, the zone or bay and the meeting point with the operator when booking.
Where coaches park and wait
- Aena publishes no separate coach waiting area. Cars with driver (VTC) have a meeting point on level -1 of the T1 car park and pick up in the express car parks at T2A and T2B (level 0). The express car parks at T1 and T2 are free for the first 10 minutes and have a height limit of 3.5 m.
Road time into the city
- about 17 km by road from Terminal T1, and about 14 km from Terminal T2, to the Plaça de Catalunya, in the centre of Barcelona, about 30 min by coach from T1 and about 25 min from T2 in light traffic; longer at peak times
Into Barcelona: Zona Bus and the AMB register
The Plaça de Catalunya is about 17 km from T1 (around 30 minutes) and about 14 km from T2 (around 25). Inside the city, Zona Bus applies to every vehicle with nine or more seats, minibuses included: parking or stopping in its spaces needs a permit. Stops at Sagrada Família, Park Güell and the other special areas are booked, open one month ahead and last 10 minutes.
A coach registered outside Spain must be on the AMB register of foreign vehicles before it enters the low-emission zone inside the Rondes, which applies on weekdays from 07:00 to 20:00. Registration can take up to 15 working days, so it cannot be arranged at the last minute.
Cruise days and fairs
The cruise terminals on the Moll Adossat are about 20 km from T1, around 35 minutes. Terminals are changing, so plan on the terminal named on the cruise documents. For a fair at Fira Gran Via, the venue lies in L'Hospitalet, on the airport side of the city.
What organisers ask us
Does Zona Bus apply to a 16-seat minibus?
Yes. The rule starts at nine seats, the driver's included, so minibuses need a permit to park or stop in Zona Bus spaces.
Can the coach drive straight to Sagrada Família from the airport?
Only with a booked stop in that special area. The booking opens one month before the visit and the stop lasts up to 10 minutes, so the group must be ready to step off quickly.
Is there a coach waiting area at El Prat?
None is published. The operator plans the wait and brings the coach to the T1 zone or T2 bay when the group is through.
