Premium Minibus Hire in Spain

Coach Hire in Palma and Across Mallorca

Mallorca is an island, so the coach and its driver are based on the island. That makes Palma simple in one way. The airport is close, the hotels are spread around the bay, and the mountain roads decide how long a day out takes.

From the airport to the hotel

From the airport to La Seu is roughly 10 km, some 20 minutes by coach. The coach pulls up outside Arrivals, directly in front of the terminal, in a zone Aena has split by type of transport. The stop is free for a limited time and charges may apply after that, so the coach usually waits in a free waiting area by the long-stay car park until the group is through.

Most hotels are in the old town around the Born, along the seafront Passeig Marítim, out west at Cala Major, or east beyond the airport at the Platja de Palma. A group split over several hotels should send the list when booking.

The low-emission zone and 2027

Since 22 December 2024, everything inside the Avingudes ring, plus the Avinguda de Gabriel Roca along the sea, has been a low-emission zone. Unlabelled vehicles are kept out now. In 2027 the B label joins them, and from 2030 entry is for ECO and zero-emission vehicles only.

The city's ZBE page names buses as allowed; whether private-hire coaches count as buses there has not been made clear. Ask the operator to confirm access for the coach booked, above all for trips in 2027.

Flying the group into Palma de Mallorca

  • Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) — about 10 km by road to the cathedral, in the centre of Palma, about 20 min by coach in light traffic; longer at peak times

Stadiums and arenas a coach can reach

  • Estadio de Son Moix — RCD Mallorca football; in the north of the city (Can Valero); its sponsor name changes, so use "Son Moix"

Coach access and parking rules in Palma de Mallorca

  • Palma de Mallorca airport (PMI) is about 10 km by road from the cathedral, about 20 min by coach in light traffic.
  • Mallorca is an island: coaches and drivers for transfers and tours are based on the island.
  • Palma has a low-emission zone (ZBE) in the centre, inside the ring of avenues (Avingudes) and the seafront Avinguda de Gabriel Roca. It has applied since 22 December 2024. Until the end of 2026 vehicles with the B, C, ECO or zero-emission label may enter and vehicles without a label may not; from 2027 to 2029 the B label is also excluded; from 2030 only ECO and zero-emission vehicles may enter.
  • The city's ZBE page lists buses (autobuses), taxis and VTC cars among the vehicles allowed in. Foreign-registered vehicles are not classified by the DGT and need a specific authorisation. Public underground car parks inside the zone can be reached on set routes without a label. Check before travel.
  • Cruise ships berth in Palma port, west of the cathedral; see the Palma cruise-port page for the terminals.
  • No official list of coach set-down points or coach parks in central Palma was found: the operator confirms the stopping point when booking.

The old town without the coach

La Seu, the Almudaina palace beside it, the Arab Baths and the lanes of the Casc Antic are visited on foot. Palma has no published list of coach stops in the centre, so the operator agrees one. Bellver Castle stands on a wooded hill west of the centre and is easier with the coach. The Palau de Congressos is on the seafront east of the cathedral.

Tramuntana and the rest of the island

Valldemossa is about 35 minutes away, Sóller 40 and Deià 55. Lluc takes about 1 h 5 min, Pollença 55 minutes, Alcúdia an hour and the Coves del Drac 1 h 15 min. Sa Calobra is only 61 km, yet takes about 1 h 40 min on a road of hairpin bends.

What organisers ask us

Can the group take the Sóller train and meet the coach afterwards?

Yes. The historic railway runs from Palma through the Tramuntana to Sóller, so the coach can be booked for the other leg only. Give the operator the train times.

Is the road to Sa Calobra suitable for a coach?

It is a mountain road with tight hairpin bends. Ask the operator which vehicle size suits it and allow the longer drive time.

Where do cruise groups meet the coach?

Ships use either the Dique del Oeste breakwater or the quays of the Muelle de Poniente, and these are separate places. Check the berth on the cruise documents first; the Palma cruise-port page covers both.
