Marbella Coach Hire: Coast, Ronda and Puerto Banús
Marbella groups are spread along the coast: in the town, on the Golden Mile, in Puerto Banús, San Pedro or a golf resort. Most days start at a hotel entrance rather than a central meeting point, and the longest drives head inland.
Arriving through Málaga airport
The coast motorway brings a coach from Málaga airport to the Plaza de los Naranjos in about 50 minutes, a distance of about 51 km. Aena publishes no coach pick-up point there. On floor 0, the baggage hall holds the tour-operator desks; the operator agrees the meeting point and where the coach stops.
With several hotels, list them in the order you want them served. The Golden Mile runs between the town and Puerto Banús, and San Pedro Alcántara lies further west.

Old town, seafront and Puerto Banús
Around the Plaza de los Naranjos the old town's lanes are for walking, and the Avenida del Mar, with its Dalí sculptures, leads down to the seafront. Puerto Banús is about 8 km west, around 15 minutes. Neither place has published coach stops, so ask the operator to name the point for each one.
Signs mark low-emission zones in both historic centres, Marbella's and San Pedro Alcántara's. As last reported, though, the city had not started enforcing them and was still waiting on a definitive ordinance. Before travel the operator rechecks.

Coach access and parking rules in Marbella
- Málaga airport (AGP) is about 51 km by road from Marbella's Plaza de los Naranjos, about 50 min by coach in light traffic, on the coast motorway.
- Cruise passengers reach Marbella from the port of Málaga (see the Málaga cruise-port page); the town is about 61 km from central Málaga.
- Low-emission zone: Marbella has marked low-emission zones in the old towns of Marbella and San Pedro Alcántara. As last reported the city was not enforcing them, pending its definitive ordinance. Check before travel.
- Ronda: the town lists a coach park for tourist coaches at the Recinto Ferial "Ángel Harillo" fairground, regulated in a morning and an afternoon time slot (paid). The A-397 from the coast is a winding mountain road, so allow extra time.
- Marbella and Puerto Banús: no official coach set-down points were found; the operator confirms the stopping point when booking.
Ronda by the A-397
Ronda looks close on the map at 58 km. The A-397 climbs through the mountains in bends, though, so allow about 1 h 30 min by coach. Ronda sends tourist coaches to its fairground car park, the Recinto Ferial "Ángel Harillo", which works in two time slots, mornings and afternoons (as reported locally in 2024); plan the visit inside the slot. Setenil de las Bodegas, beyond Ronda, is about 2 h from Marbella.
Granada and other long days
Granada's Alhambra means about 2 h 45 min on the road in each direction, some 182 km. Add the palace time slot and the driver's hours, and the day needs careful timing. Antequera's dolmens take about 1 h 30 min, Nerja about 1 h 50 min. Mijas Pueblo and Estepona are about 40 minutes each.
What organisers ask us
How far is Marbella from Málaga airport?
About 51 km to the Plaza de los Naranjos, or about 50 minutes by coach in light traffic. Hotels in Puerto Banús or San Pedro add a little more.
Can we go to Granada and back in one day?
Yes, but it is about 5 h 30 min of driving in total. EU rules allow a driver 9 hours at the wheel a day with a break after 4.5 hours, so the Alhambra slot and the return must fit around that.
Do cruise passengers reach Marbella?
Yes, from the port of Málaga. Central Málaga to Marbella is about 61 km, which takes up most of a port call.
