Coach Hire at the Port of Barcelona

A cruise coach in Barcelona starts with one word from the cruise documents: the terminal. The port has several, on two quays, and the driver needs the right one.

Two quays, several terminals

Most terminals line the Moll Adossat: A to E, plus a newer building that serves one cruise group's ships. A single terminal, WTC South, sits on the city quay near the old town and handles two medium-sized ships at most. Its closure is announced for the end of 2026; after that, every call uses the Adossat.

The Adossat is changing too: A, B and C are to give way to one new building, and a Terminal G was being built. Send the terminal printed on the documents, and tell us if it changes.

Set down, load, move on

Coaches are let into the cruise zone for setting down and loading people and cases. Parking there is not. Between runs the coach waits in a car park nearby, so agree how the group leader calls the driver in.

On turnaround days, give two numbers: passengers and suitcases. A full-size coach (49 to 57 seats) has underfloor holds; a midi coach (29 to 35) has less room.

From the ship to the coach

  • The Port of Barcelona has seven international passenger terminals on the Moll Adossat and the Moll de Barcelona; check which terminal is on the cruise documents before planning a transfer.
  • Private vehicles may enter the cruise area to drop off or pick up passengers and luggage, but parking there is not allowed; there are car parks in the port area (Moll de Barcelona and Moll Adossat) and around it.
  • A cruise shuttle bus links the Moll Adossat terminals with the city centre; the World Trade Center terminal is close to the public transport network.
  • Since 2018 the port has accepted only one ship per terminal and no cruise operations outside the terminals.
  • Under an agreement signed with Barcelona City Council in July 2025, cruise activity is being concentrated on the Moll Adossat: Terminals A, B and C are to be demolished and replaced by one new public terminal on the site of Terminal C, leaving five terminals on the quay; at the time of the agreement a further terminal, Terminal G, was under construction.
  • The Plaça de Catalunya, in the centre of Barcelona, is about 6 km by road from the Moll Adossat (about 20 min by coach) and about 4 km from the World Trade Center terminal (about 10 min by coach) in light traffic.
  • Montserrat is about 62 km by road from the Moll Adossat, about 1 h 25 min by coach in light traffic.

Airports for this port

  • Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) — about 20 km from the Moll Adossat; about 17 km from the World Trade Center terminal, about 35 min by coach from the Moll Adossat and about 25 min from the World Trade Center terminal, in light traffic (from Terminal T1)

Ship to El Prat

Terminal T1 is about 20 km from the Adossat, roughly 35 minutes in light traffic, and about 17 km (25 minutes) from the World Trade Center. Coaches load at T1 on level 0, North or South zone, and at T2 in bays at T2A and T2C. Name the flight's terminal too.

A port day in the city or at Montserrat

Plaça de Catalunya is about 6 km off, some 20 minutes. In town, any vehicle with nine or more seats needs a Zona Bus permit to stop or park in coach spaces. Gaudí's basilica, Park Güell, La Pedrera and Ciutat Vella are special areas: a stop there is reserved in advance (bookings open a month before) and lasts ten minutes. Sagrada Família group tickets cover up to 30 people, so a full coach is two groups.

Montserrat is about 62 km away, around 1 h 25 min each way: check the all-aboard time first.

What organisers ask us

Is there a shuttle from the Adossat terminals?

Yes, a cruise shuttle bus runs to the centre, and there is a taxi rank. A coach suits a group that must stay together or go straight to the airport.

Our coach is coming from France. What is needed?

Foreign-plated vehicles have to be listed on the AMB's metropolitan register before driving inside the Rondes zone (weekdays, 07:00 to 20:00). Allow up to 15 working days for it.

Can the coach wait at the terminal?

No. It unloads, leaves, and returns when called.
